Ehukai Pillbox Hike – Peace Hike
Chad and I hiked the Ehukai Pillbox Hike, also known as the Peace Hike, up in the North Shore a couple of weekends ago and I believe this is a hidden gem so I wanted to share it with you all!

About the Ehukai Pillbox Hike
The Ehukai Hike is a 2.1 hike that is a loop, though most people just go to the pillbox and hike back. There is a second pillbox with some much better views if you continue following the trail.
This is a nice hike that starts off flat but then turns into a steep incline for a little while and then is pretty flat once you get to the top.
The Ehukai Hike has a lot of nice shaded parts so you’re not in the sun the entire time.

To get to the second pillbox
After you make it to the top where the first pillbox hike is, you’ll continue following the trail down the mountain where you will come across the second pillbox.
The second pillbox is maybe 10 minutes past the first one and provides some beautiful views! Much better than the first pillbox in my opinion.

I highly recommend hiking this trail on a clear day – the views will be much more enjoyable that way! I also feel that the Ehukai Hike is great for kids – it’s not a dangerous hike like others on the island and it’s not too challenging. The steep part will get your heart rate up but the views are worth it at the top!
The path on this hike is also clearly defined and overall a great hike if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours!
- Camera/Phone to take pictures with
- Wear hiking shoes/sneakers
I didn’t see a real need for bug spray or sunscreen so I don’t feel it’s necessary to add it to the packing list. This is a relatively short hike that isn’t too challenging so it doesn’t require a big packing list.
And that is the Ehukai Pillbox Hike! Hope you enjoy!
